Kundalini, they say, is a culture of excellence. But I’m here to talk about a culture of gentleness. I have been too hard on myself, but I am divesting from the stories in my mind, the swirling untruths that would keep me small. I let these stories guide me to where the pain lives so I may speak with it, process it, and let it go. I am here to understand myself. I am here to heal myself. 💫💫💫💫 I tried to meditate for years. Years, I couldn’t sit still. At the beginning of last year I was finally able to commit. I didn’t succeed every day, but almost. I followed a simple guided meditation on YouTube called “Soul Sync” (thanks, mama, for the recommend!) and I noticed that this regular practice made me calmer and less reactive. After a year I wanted to deepen my practice... enter: Kundalini. If you want to meditate but are intimidated, start small; get curious; be gentle with yourself. You’re just a human. You’re here to learn, love. You’re here to grow. And I’m here to help — as part of my growth. Reach out with any questions. You got this. I believe in you.
June/July reading list 🔆
Since beginning to study with @gurujagat in March, not an interesting conversation goes by where I don’t respond, Well, Guru Jagat says... Guru Jagat says there’s no lack of supply, there’s a lack of command. Guru Jagat says, the world is built to numb you out; get sharper. Guru Jagat says obstacles are good news. These are Kundalini teachings infused with her no nonsense wisdom. She is a true leader for our evolving world and I’m stoked to dive into Invincible Living and further ground her teachings. ☀️ How Emotions are Made is groundbreaking. Lisa Feldman Barrett explains her Theory of Constructed Emotions and, guys, it upends EVERYTHING we think we know about our feelings. It’s so packed with knowledge my note taking has basically become me transcribing the book. Absolutely life-changing information. ☀️ The Consciousness Instinct was recommended to me by Don Hoffman (the brilliant scientist behind Conscious Agents Theory) and while I don’t know yet what I’m going to take from it, I have a feeling it’s going to change everything. Michael Gazzaniga is a world-leading neuroscientist and the small amount I know about work his work with Split Brain Patients is blowing my damn mind. I can’t wait to read it and report back! ☀️ The Science of the Magical! The Science the Magical! Bless you, Matt Kaplan, whenever (typo, leaving it #timeisanillusion) you are. I was wandering around a book store in West Hollywood looking for a journal when I happened upon this book of my dreams. I am now firmly convinced the true nature of reality is not a mystery, but a puzzle waiting to be solved.
